7/31/2023 0 Comments Planet earth snake escapeYou can read more about the unmade sequels over at Film School Rejects. In any case, we can always revisit Snake by watching Escape from New York and its sequel anytime we want. Ultimately, we'll have to see how the upcoming reboot does in theaters, which will determine what comes next. We've probably seen the end of Kurt Russell's Snake Plissken, but the franchise might ultimately live on with its new protagonist. Most likely, we will never see any of these previous ideas come to fruition. This would end up seeing the axe prior to is release, as its developer cancelled the game deep into its development. Following this, a final attempt was made at continuing the series through video games, with plans to make Snake Plissken's Escape for the Playstation 2. While the project made it far enough to have limited concept footage created, it wound up falling through like the false starts before it. Taking place in 2020 and set across many major cities, the anime was planned to be written by Corey Mitchel and William Wilson. One idea was to bring back Snake Plissken in an anime given the simple title of Snake. It would be another missed opportunity for the Escape franchise to continue, and the plans shifted at that point to somehow keep it going in alternate mediums. Because the tone of the proposed show was considered too dark for early 2000s television, nobody was interested in ordering the series. The concept was to do a 100-episode series with John Carpenter, Russell, and Hill serving as executive producers, although Russell would reportedly not be reprising the role of Snake Plissken. Earths atmosphere is made mostly of nitrogen and has plenty of oxygen for us to breathe. Earth is special because it is an ocean planet. It has a solid and active surface with mountains, valleys, canyons, plains and so much more. With the third movie dead in the water, John Carpenter and Kurt Russellthen teamed up with Debra Hill to pitch a new TV series based on the movies to various networks. Our home planet Earth is a rocky, terrestrial planet. Despite Carpenter and Russell's best efforts, however, no studio wasn't willing to bite on funding the ambitious sequel, and Escape from Earth ultimately died in development hell. With no hope left of rescuing the planet, Snake looks to escape from Earth the same way he had New York and L.A. The plot would be set years after Snake had put an end to electricity in the second movie, essentially putting the entire planet into an apocalyptic wasteland. Determined to top the first two movies by going much bigger, the idea was to do a sequel called Escape from Earth. After following up Escape from New York with Escape from L.A., Carpenter and Kurt Russell both were keen on bringing back Snake Plissken for a third movie.

I also do some private tutoring on the side in math, science and English.ĭo the three of you spend any time together outside the office? I’m a Bonner Scholar and work with America Counts at Oberlin Elementary School as a tutor. I’m also a student researcher in Associate Professor of Neuroscience Tracie Paine’s behavioral neuroscience lab. I’m the co-president of Oberlin’s SAAC, and I’ll be working as the athletics representative for Student Senate next year as well. I work as the diversity, equity, and inclusion coordinator for the North Coast Athletic Conference Student Athlete Advisory Council. ZK: I’m on the women’s volleyball team and was a captain these past fall and spring seasons. I work really closely with Mike Mancini, who’s the director of athletics for Communications & Compliance. The other thing I do is statistics and other types of communication work for the varsity athletics teams. It’s honestly a really high level of talent, especially compared to what I’ve heard from people talking about other years. JE: I’m involved in club soccer, which is really fun. Other than the Review, what are your extracurriculars at Oberlin? I love reading their stories every week and I think it’s fun that you can essentially just publish your thoughts. ZMDC: I think I would probably work for Opinions. I think it would also be really cool to get to know the Oberlin arts scene because I definitely don’t go to enough of those types of events. I actually wrote an Arts piece before I was hired by the Review. JE: Similar to Zoe K, I would definitely do Arts. John does a really good job of making the sports section funny, but I like the fact that the arts section has more creative liberty. I would just love to write a fun, cutesy piece, maybe something a little bit less serious. Editors Lily D’Amato and Kathleen Kelleher, especially this semester, have really been able to expand the section and have focused a lot on what they both really want for it. ZK: I think I would want to work for Arts - I really love what they’ve done with their section. If you did not work as sports editors, what section of the Review would you work in? I’ve gotten to see the section and the paper change over time, and I’ve also worked with lots of different staff members, including one of my best friends who I met through the Review, Khalid McCalla. The contributing sports editor was a new position for this section when I started, whereas now it’s much more established. ZMDC: I’ve actually been at the Review for some time now and have witnessed a ton of shifts within the sports section since fall of my second-year. I was hired full-time as a senior staff writer that summer, and I’ve been working here ever since. I thought it would be a good way to stay connected with the community. I was just helping out Khalid McCalla, OC ’21, because he needed an interview and I was like, “Oh I can do it, I know the coach.” Then we got sent home in March 2020, and I continued to write remotely just because I wasn’t really doing much at home. ZK: I started working for the Review at the beginning of my second year. It really wasn’t a hard decision to join. I knew I wanted to take it because journalism is something I wanted to do. I’d written a few times last year during the spring and applied for the staff writer job, but I was approached about an opening in the sports editor role. JE: I started working for the Review this fall. When did you start working for the Review and why? This interview has been edited for length and clarity. While their time as a trio is coming to an end, they are grateful for the experiences they had together in the office and in the Oberlin community. I sat down with them in the Review’s production room (not the locker room) to reflect on their work and time together. College fourth-year Zoë Martin del Campo and College third-years John Elrod and Zoe Kuzbari are the current sports editors for the Review. A high-pressure system usually brings cool temperatures and clear skies. Changes in atmospheric pressure signal shifts in the weather. Atmospheric pressure is the weight of the atmosphere overhead. The coldest weather usually happens near the poles, while the warmest weather usually happens near the Equator. An afternoon at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, for example, would seem cool after several days of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, but it would seem warm after temperatures around 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Almost all scientists measure temperature using the Celsius scale. The United States uses the Fahrenheit system in other parts of the world, Celsius is used. Meteorologists report temperature two ways: in Celsius (C) and Fahrenheit (F). Temperature is measured with a thermometer and refers to how hot or cold the atmosphere is. These changing components, along with the knowledge of atmospheric processes, help meteorologists-scientists who study weather-forecast what the weather will be in the near future. Together, these components describe the weather at any given time. They are temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind, humidity, precipitation, and cloudiness. What Makes Weather There are six main components, or parts, of weather. This “ Green Sahara” experienced frequent rainy weather. However, several thousand years ago, the climate in the Sahara was quite different. Today, the Sahara Desert in northern Africa is the largest desert in the world. However, climate change can take hundreds or even thousands of years. state of Hawaii, is also hot, but much more humid and rainy. state of Nevada is generally dry and hot. For example, the city of Las Vegas in the U.S. The av erage weather in a specific region, as well as its variations and extremes over many years, is called climate. Over many years, certain conditions become familiar weather in an area. It moves, and changes from hour to hour or day to day. For example, a snowstorm around Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, might eventually reach Chicago, Illinois, as it moves southeast through the U.S. Weather in your region will eventually affect the weather hundreds or thousands of kilometers away. The same happens with weather around the globe. But weather works like dropping a pebble in water-the ripples eventually affect water far away from where the pebble was dropped. We usually think of weather in terms of the state of the atmosphere in our own part of the world. The term “weather” refers to the temporary conditions of the atmosphere, the layer of air that surrounds the Earth. Severe weather, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and blizzards, can disrupt many people’s lives because of the destruction they cause. Day-to-day changes in weather can influence how we feel and the way we look at the world. A rainy day might make you think about visiting a museum or staying home to read. If you don’t have school and the weather looks sunny, you might visit the zoo or go on a picnic. Looking outside and listening to the day’s forecast helps you decide what clothes you will wear and maybe even what you will do throughout the day. One of the first things you probably do every morning is look out the window to see what the weather is like. 7/30/2023 0 Comments Wire cheese slicerCleaning instructions: Hand wash only.Īdjustable Slice Function: No need to buy those cheap processed cheese slices, the Zulay wire cheese slicer can cut slices from paper-thin to ¼” thick and can handle cheese blocks up to 3.5'' wide. According to this movie, none of the other sequels happened, Leatherface is pushing 70(!) and has been dormant while the lone survivor of the first film, Sally, has been hunting him for 50 years. However, the film still suffers from that “Netflix neon” lighting that seems inescapable right now, and instantly dated.Īs well as the previously mentioned technical missteps in script and sound, this film follows the regrettable trend of slasher franchises past their prime and pulls the legacy card. Despite the copious splatter and an overkill soundtrack of constant metal-on-metal grating sounds, the opening-to-credits runtime of 73 minutes still drags.ĭirector David Blue Garcia comes from a cinematography background, and it shows in the quality and composition of some of the shots. Whereas Hooper’s film, and even the oft-overlooked batshit sequel from ’94 subtitled The Next Generation (starring Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger no less), were both relatively bloodless, this film is one of the goriest I’ve seen since the Evil Dead remake, whose director Fede Alvarez gets a story-by and producer credit. But the real plot is equally ridiculous: these young “gentri-f*ckers” (an actual word in the script) accidentally kill Leatherface’s mom and that makes him sad so he goes on a rampage. This current-topics-bingo-card version of a script is window dressing taken seriously. The film follows four young “influencers” who have purchased an abandoned Texas town (like you do), and within the first 10 minutes the movie brings up gentrification, open-carry, school shootings and the Confederate flag. To say it is about anything else would be buying into the surface-level Twitter-isms and political talking points that make up the entirety of the first act of the script. In case it was unclear, this film is about a guy in Texas who has a chainsaw and goes on a massacre. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) is not “the” Texas chainsaw massacre, but “a” Texas chainsaw massacre, though it would’ve been more appropriately titled Not Another Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Welcome to 2022 then: the year that forgot about subtlety, subtext and subtitles. Whether about the atrocities of Vietnam or the violence inherent in meat production (Hooper said he had to give up meat during shooting), the film never explicitly tells you what it’s about beyond abject terror. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) was Tobe Hooper’s filthy, no-frills, low-budget horror phenomenon that saw some hippie vagrants run afoul of some truly deranged rednecks. 7/30/2023 0 Comments Babe i know nathaniel rateliffListen to track for strumming pattern, you. One possible snag with water-based satin is that it can feel 'tacky' for months afterwards - not the tackiness from not drying out properly, but anything left sitting on it will tend to stick a bit! (Some are more prone to this than others.) Water based stuff will need at least 3 coats, but is so much easier to use. If the trim has a decor profile, use a brush to finish this off instead of the roller. Finish off with light rolling and it will dry to a very fine and attractive texture. I've then used quick-drying (water-based) satin applied, as mentioned above, with a foam roller. Wipe every trace of dust off really well. The edges of the MDF will require careful attention, tho' I presume you have wood trim finishing this off instead? Avoid linseed oil type oils.Apply a couple of coats of quick-drying MDF (or 'wood') primer, then sand down to get a smooth finish. These types of finishes should not be applied to panels that will be installed in humid environments, such as kitchens and bathrooms. Waxes or oils are usually applied in a single coat to previously prepared surfaces. It is recommended that the applied primer and clearcoat be from the same manufacturer so that there is no incompatibility between them. Between coats, surfaces are sanded with 320 fine grit. You can also paint the area a different color, either solid or with stenciling, or add curtains across openings in armoires or bookcases to dress it up. Then, a finishing varnish is applied in one or two coats, depending on the manufacturer's prescription. After the first layer has dried, the surfaces are sanded with a fine grain of 320, in order to eliminate the raised pores of the wood. When the finish is made with varnish, the first layer to be applied is a primer, also called “insulator” or “pore filler”. Two-component acrylic varnishes are widely used, as they do not yellow over time. Any suitable varnish for wood can be applied over Valchromat. The finish can be done with varnishes, waxes or oils. The Valchromat panel must be applied with a finish, in order to protect the surface, maintaining its natural appearance. The Valchromat panel should not be used in areas where there is direct contact with water, such as kitchen worktop sink cutouts and shower cubicles. Whenever the panel is used in wet areas, such as kitchen worktops and bathrooms, it should be protected with varnish and the faces and fields should be well sealed. Valchromat is a water-repellent panel, supplied unfinished, in which the application of varnish, wax or oil is essential. This variation can be observed on the same face, between faces of the same panel, between different productions or thicknesses. The Valchromat panel, due to the use of organic dyes and the natural variation in the color of the wood, has differences in hue. Valchromat is an MDF.HLS, according to the EN 622-5 standard. The fibers are impregnated with organic dyes and chemically bonded to each other by a special resin which gives Valchromat unique physico-mechanical characteristics. Valchromat E05 is a mass-dyed wood fiber panel with formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.05 ppm. In all cases, it is recommended to apply a finish. Moisture-resistant, it is indicated for interior use but can also be used for exterior applications under shelter (equivalent to class 2). Like other control procedures, MANCOVA can be seen as a form of "what if" analysis, asking what would happen if all cases scored equally on the covariates, so that the effect of the factors over and beyond the covariates can be isolated. Multiple analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) is similar to MANOVA, but interval independents may be added as "covariates." These covariates serve as control variables for the independent factors, serving to reduce the error term in the model. To identify the independent variables which differentiate a set of dependent variables the most. To use lack of difference for a set of dependent variables as a criterion for reducing a set of independent variables to a smaller, more easily modeled number of variables. To compare groups formed by categorical independent variables on group differences in a set of interval dependent variables. There are multiple potential purposes for MANOVA. One may also perform planned comparison or post hoc comparisons to see which values of a factor contribute most to the explanation of the dependents. Where ANOVA tests the differences in means of the interval dependent for various categories of the independent(s), MANOVA tests the differences in the centroid (vector) of means of the multiple interval dependents, for various categories of the independent(s). MANOVA uses one or more categorical independents as predictors, like ANOVA, but unlike ANOVA, there is more than one dependent variable. Multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) is used to see the main and interaction effects of categorical variables on multiple dependent interval variables. MANCOVA also supports use of continuous control variables as covariates. Multivariate GLM, MANOVA, and MANCOVA all deal with the situation where there is more than one dependent variable and one or more independents. Multivariate GLM is the version of the general linear model now often used to implement two long-established statistical procedures - MANOVA and MANCOVA. |
